A virtual accounting firm based in Massachusetts is seeking a seasonal Staff/Senior Accountant. This firm provides various accounting, tax, and advisory services to clients across multiple industries. The firm’s client base ranges from startups to established businesses with over $10 million in revenues.
The firm prides itself on taking an innovative approach to working with individuals and small businesses, ensuring their clients become informed partners in the accounting process. In this position, you will have the opportunity to learn from and work closely with the firm owner.
The position will be primarily responsible for preparing workpapers from QBO files, making year-end adjusting entries as needed, reconciling fixed assets and payroll, and producing individual and small business tax returns. You must be proficient in both accounting and tax, and have a solid understanding of depreciation methods and rules across multiple states. Attention to detail is key, along with strong written and verbal communication skills.
The ideal candidate will be a generalist with experience working with small businesses across multiple industries. The candidate must also be able to work independently with little guidance, and be willing to take ownership for the timeliness and accuracy of their work.
The position is seasonal from mid-January through April 2020, approximately 40 hours per week. There may be additional projects or part-time hours available after April if desired. This is a W-2 employment position without benefits.

Please only apply if you have the following:
1) At least 3-5 years of tax experience and 3-5 years of accounting experience
2) Proficiency with QuickBooks Online, QB Desktop and Intuit – Lacerte Tax
3) Experience reviewing and preparing individual and business tax returns
4) At least 25 hours of availability
Optional requirements (Priority is given to those who have the following background):
1) An Active CPA License or Enrolled Agent
2) Experience working with small businesses across multiple industries
3) Public Tax Experience
